Amidst a covid-19 Pandemic – Mental Health Crisis epidemic is the next
As per the recent studies, Mental Health crisis will be the next
pandemic soon – Mental health problems caused globally by the covid-19 will be next pandemic. The rapidly
accelerating Covid-19 pandemic, a mental health crisis could be looming on the horizon.
Frontline health care workers in emergency rooms and intensive care units
around the country face multiple unprecedented challenges, including difficult
decisions about the allocation of limited resources, long and physically
demanding working hours, staff shortages due to fear and illness, and lack of
adequate protection from the virus. The consequences of this on health care
workers' short- and long-term mental health could be significant and could
weaken the health care system's ability to resolve the current pandemic and
survive over the long term.
During quarantine & lockdown
periods people were completely isolated – individuals got stuck wherever they
were. Some were abroad some were in the town some were with families some were
with loved ones some were with friends & some were all alone, etc. Some
tried to build the bond, some tried to fix the errors to run the bond, while
some lost it all or ruined it. Seeing all the day long the same faces hearing
the same voices sometimes can be addiction or at a same time irritation. Mental
Health Disorders can be anxiety, depression, stress, panic attacks, etc – which
is very common nowadays. Today’s generation is all about sad souls with happy
pictures. Depression is everywhere whether it’s due to lack of communication or
else it can be the lack of capability to hear out. Humans are busy soul don’t
have time to talk about the sad internal scenario while there are some who
wants to talk about but don’t have a one to listen. Cause technology smart
phones, social media sites have a major role here to kill the main
communication procedure.
As we enter World Mental Health
Awareness Month, it’s almost surreal to look back on the year to date. Spring
brought unexpected and momentous changes along with the most significant–the
COVID 19 restrictions. Instead of welcoming the summer with vacations, patios,
and lounging with friends, we were instead faced with the stark reality that
the majority of the season would be spent isolated and confined indoors. Individuals
seeks help for a human soul to hear out the things – it’s all about
understandings. Time that’s all an individual requires but we all are running
out of Time only. Most places in the world are now battling a second wave. The
pandemic brought with it an emotional upheaval for many who individuals who
previously perceived the world to be a safe and predictable place, resulting in
negative impacts on their mental health. Unfortunately, people who had
experienced mental health conditions such as anxiety disorders and depression
in the past found that these feelings are magnified by the pandemic. Today’s
Generation – The most happening ones with full of secrets and mental health
crisis. It’s also up to parents how they can be a part of mental health crisis healer.
Mental health issues are further compounded by those who do contract COVID 19.
As many individuals who have had COVID describe lingering neurological
and cognitive symptoms such as difficulty thinking, fumbling with words,
depression, anxiety or PTSD. There is growing consensus that the disease may
have a long-lasting effect on the brain.
The resulting mental health issues
arising from COVID-19 have created a second pandemic–one which has yet to be
fully recognized. In fact, rather than an increase in mental health
supports, the need to distance and isolate has resulted in the amalgamation or
closure of amenities and has resulted in fewer or less accessible mental health
services in an already underserviced and stigmatized sector. It’s
important for health care systems to recognize mental health as a significant
issue and put strategies in place to address it.
Mental Health is such a sensitive
topic to talk about – but hardly people do discuss briefly regarding this. On a
very high perspective nowadays modern parents found it lesser important to
discuss about & old generation parents found it literally make no sense to
talk about. As per the recent surveys & studies Mental Health Crisis will
be hitting soon as an Epidemic globally.
Most common effects of covid-19 that
triggered Mental Health crisis - Mourning, remoteness, forfeiture of income and
fear are triggering mental health conditions or exacerbating existing ones.
Many people may be facing increased levels of alcohol and drug use, insomnia,
and anxiety.
Meanwhile,
COVID-19 itself can lead to neurological and mental hitches, such as delirium,
agitation, and stroke. People with pre-existing mental, neurological or
substance use disorders are also more vulnerable as they may stand a higher
risk of severe outcomes and even death.
When you feel yourself getting
caught up in fear of what might happen, try to shift your focus to things you
can control. For example, you can’t control how severe the coronavirus outbreak
is in your city or town, but you can take steps to reduce your own personal
risk (and the risk you’ll unknowingly spread it to others), such as:
• washing
your hands recurrently (for at least 20 seconds) with soap and water or a hand
sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
•
sidestepping touching your face (particularly your eyes, nose, and mouth).
• staying
home as much as possible, even if you don’t feel sick.
• avoiding
crowds and gatherings of 10 or more people.
• avoiding
all non-essential shopping and travel.
• keeping 6
feet of distance between yourself and others when out.
• getting
plenty of sleep, which helps support your immune system.
• following
all endorsements from health establishments.
Most importantly try to be the one who is in need of their loved ones. We shall be their for at least our closed ones. Be patient. Try to fix this together unitedly - listening peacefully with patience & speaking up the entire shit you're going through with full guts is what you an do to clear out the mess.
